Hi, I co-signed for a nephew. He married into the family and had fathered three children with my niece. He had property he was trying to sell and asked me to co-sign for his student loan. He promised to pay it back when the property sold. I signed the property sold, finished his course, got a job, fathered a fourth child, quit his job, now getting a divorce and he refuses to pay student loan or child support. He refuses to even get a job at all. He is being supported by a new girl friend. How do I help my niece and my self in paying back the student loan. She can't afford it and neither can I. I trusted this guy as did my niece an now we both are stuck, especially me. Are there any grants or assistance programs that will help pay this debt? 40k plus.
