Adora Svitak is a teenage prodigy that teaches and advocates for education. She also writes and gives lectures on literacy. She is only 13 years old and she already has a couple of books under her belt. She is also a hot ticket at the top education conferences around the globe. Who is this inspiring teenage US teacher and role model for many?

Prodigy is Inspiring Advocate for Change

Well, she gave her first lesson at the age of seven and she has taught online since she was 10 years old. She is an advocate for change in education systems at home and abroad. She was just a toddler, when she began writing her first book. It went to the publishing house when she was seven. In her spare time, she studies online and attends middle school at an area junior high. Adora works as youth representative for the UN World Food Program when she has time in her busy schedule.

Reading and writing has the way to go

Adora says that reading and writing is her life and this inspiring go-getter wants to be an example to get more children to read and write. She say that today there are many kids that are behind in reading and writing skills and they do not like to read or write. Teenagers use her writings as a way to inspire youth and she has a webpage to help others learn more about her and her successful career. Many visitors come to her website and find resources to help them in their quest for reading and writing excellences.

Teenage Prodigy Travels the World

Adora’s mother goes with her as she spans the globe and talks about the girls heavy travel schedule and how it helps Adora expand her horizons. She not only works when she travels but Adora is increasing her knowledge in ways that only a teenage prodigy could appreciate, and helping others along the way. If more youth were focused like her the world would be a much better place for learning and success.

Adora Svitak Loves Sharing

She has a commitment to sharing and this lead her to publishing her first book and teaching in a classroom. She began to teach at a local primary school and she used innovative techniques and props to get her schoolmates to imagine wonderful places and then use their own words to come up with stories of their own.

Goal of Inspiring Teenage Teacher

Adora’s goal is to have every child master the skills of reading and writing. She is truly an inspiring teenage US teacher and a role model for many who wish to use their talents to make the world a better place for everyone.

When Obama mentioned to a 11 year old student reporter Damon Weaver that he planned to make a back- to- school speech, even he would not have expected such mixed reactions and so much hype. It was just a simple inspirational speech that schools were encouraged (not ordered!) to be broadcast. However, many schools did not do that after the controversy.

One parent says,” I sent my children to school to be educated NOT indoctrinated.”

While another states, “The fact that people want to keep their kids from hearing the President of the united states encourage them to do well in school shows a true level of ignorance.”

All said and done, the speech hit the air on September 8th. It was really inspirational and is sure to have touched a chord in most of the students’ hearts.

The Obama’s back-to-school speech had a few great highlights to be remembered by all students:

Students should realize their responsibilities.

They should work hard in developing their talents, skills and intellect.

Even those who face challenges and difficulties were encouraged to do their homework and develop a positive attitude.

Students should respect their teachers, not cut class, talk back to teachers or drop out of school.

Students were asked by Obama to set goals for their education and do all they can to meet them.

Some excerpts from his speech are given below to inspire you:

“If you get a bad grade, that doesn’t mean you’re stupid, it just means you need to spend more time studying.”

“No one’s born being good at things; you become good at things through hard work.”

“And even when you’re struggling, even when you’re discouraged, and you feel like other people have given up on you – don’t ever give up on yourself. Because when you give up on yourself, you give up on your country.”

“The story of America isn’t about people who quit when things got tough. It’s about people who kept going, who tried harder, who loved their country too much to do anything less than their best.”
