The cost of higher education is rising at a record pace, which has put a financial strain on college students and on their families. Students are looking for ways to save a few bucks whenever possible and saving every penny on your college education can definitely add up in the long run. To get you started, here are some things that you can do as a college student to cut college costs:

Speed up the process: If possible, take the maximum amount of credit hours allowed per semester to speed up the process and graduate in a timely manner. There are also accelerated programs available to help you earn your degree in a shorter time frame. Speeding up the process will require a heavier case load, but the money saved is worth the hassle.

Experience counts: Some colleges will award credits for life experiences. This can help to reduce the amount of time needed to graduate, as well as the amount of credits needed, thus saving you money on tuition, books and other expenses.

Go in state: Colleges and universities charge less for in state residents than out of state residents, so pick a school that is close to home and in your state.

Stay at home: If possible, stay at home instead of going away to college and living on campus. This will help to cut your college costs and save you lots of money in the end.

Go public: Public institutions are way cheaper than private schools. Research several public and private schools and compare tuition and so on, then pick the best public school that meets your academic goals as well as your budget.

Go to community college: Community college is the way to go if you are not 100 percent sure about what you want to study. Community colleges are also much cheaper than 4-year universities. These first two years at community college give you the opportunity to decide about a college major.

Utilize financial aid and work study programs: Apply for scholarships, grants and work study programs to help with tuition and other college related expenses. Avoid student loans if possible, or make it your last resort after using up all the free money available to you.

Don’t forget to transfer those credits: If you have credits from another school, make sure you transfer the credits earned — no need to repeat the same class twice.

These are a few ways you can cut your college expenses. If you have a few tips of your own, and would like to add to the list, please do so below. I’m sure college students everywhere will appreciate any info on how to cut on college costs and save a few bucks.

Different people have different approaches to dealing with various situations that face them daily. Campus life is one thing that all students must deal with whether they are popular or not. Some students judge their success on campus by how much work they put in and by what they achieve on their own without the help of fellow students or teachers. Now, this may sound strange or one may ask why would someone want to be anti-social? but as I alluded to earlier, to each their own.

How not to make friends

There are many things that students can do to make themselves unpopular on campus. Although the attempt may backfire, where you become known for doing this or that or being weird, to a large extent they may work in allowing you not to win friends or influence your teacher. Some of these ideas include:

Constantly having lunch by yourself: Lunchtime is one of the easiest times to make friends. Hence, sitting by yourself and limiting your socializing will restrict the number of students who will want to be your friend. This seclusion will allow you to focus on yourself.

Dress down: Stay away from the latest trends in fashion. Go for the nerd look, buy second hand clothes or simply do not wash them. This will keep other students miles away from you as they will not want to be associated with someone who cannot keep up with the latest fashion.
Always stay in the library: The library is a place where there must be total silence, so if you spend most of your time in the library, there will be no room for conversation and meeting friends. You will also be able to put in more time for your studies and get better grades.

Be obnoxious: No one wants to associate themselves with an obnoxious individual. It leaves a bad taste in someone’s mouth when they extend a hand of friendship and you return it with an insult. Even if they do it once or twice, they will not be coming a third time. Actually, they will even help you in your quest to be unfriendly by spreading the word that your do not want to be friends with anyone.

Do not attend campus parties: Campus parties are a big part of the social life on campus. Therefore, do not accept invitations, or even if they are thrust upon you, simply do not attend. After a while, they will stop inviting you.

How not to Influence your Teacher

In your quest to earn your college education without influence, some students also try to have a neutral relationship with their teachers. In some weird way, it gives them a sense of satisfaction that they were able to complete college without any favors.

Therefore, by being quiet in class, submitting your assignments in the middle of the pack, sitting in the middle of the class, you can easily become invisible to your teacher and still achieve your educational goals.

Face to face with President Obama

It is indeed an unforgettable day for 19-year-old Julio Osegueda from Cape Coral, when he was chosen by President Obama to ask one last question to him in a town hall meeting session at Fort Myers. This article came up in US Today website and became an instant hit. For all those who missed the happenings of the town hall meeting can check out the video below for a livelier experience.

Check out the interesting video…you’ll love it..!!

What did Osegueda ask the President?

Julio Osegueda student of a community college in his second semester is also working with McDonalds for four years. He questioned about the President’s plan for low wage earners and job benefits and facilities that are likely to be offered to them.

President Obama systematic and unperturbed addressed the following issues while answering to the question. He appreciated the student’s effort and said that he should be proud of himself for being very responsible at such young age. He promised that the Health Department has been sufficiently advised to offer medical care and protection to low wage earners. A tax refund has been ordered to cover up the tuition fee for college education. When the student spoke about his career interest as a broadcaster or RJ, President appreciated his communication skill and said that he deserved to be one.

Teenager lands with a job after asking a question

Soon after the interactive session got over, Julio Osegueda was offered the color announcer job at Fort Myers Miracle baseball team’s radio broadcast. He expressed absolute happiness on his temporary job and his dream come true of being a radio jockey. This video shows the freedom public can experience with the President of America and his presence of mind to instantly recognize the right enthusiasm. The teenager thanked the President for his cooperation and patience and was immediately prepared to take the job offered.

Hey guys, just imagine….if you would have ever got a chance to question the President, what must have been your question, I kept on thinking so many questions myself . Do you see a welcome change in this approach?
