Monthly Newsletter February 2010
Google Buzz Launched
Okay, so what’s the Buzz craze? I’m sure most of you have already heard of new Google Buzz that was launched on Tuesday, Feb 9, 2010. Student Loan Blog is dedicating this particular newsletter to keeping you, our valued readers, up to date on the latest “Buzz”, Google Buzz that is.
What’s the Buzz?
Google Buzz is this social media tool integrated with Gmail. Google Buzz allows you to share messages, web links, photos and even videos with family and friends directly within the Gmail e-mail system. There’s really nothing to set up, you’re automatically connected to the people you email and chat with on a regular basis. And every time someone posts a message, link or photo, they can either choose to share it publicly or keep it private (shared with only a select group of people). The great thing about Buzz messages is that their live conversations, where comments appear, are in real time. According to Google executives, users can easily share content from various Google online properties. You can even share content from Twitter but you can only see Tweets within Buzz, you can’t publish new messages to Twitter. Still, can it compete with Facebook ? Those news feeds on Facebookare just plain addicting! Who wants to give that up?
Google Buzz: The Next BIG Thing!
Google is hoping that their new Buzz will appeal to their already existing pool of 176 million users. But the big question is, will Google Buzz catch on with everyone? According to reports, it really doesn’t matter how cool Google Buzz is; if your friends don’t use it, neither will you!
Google Buzz already seems to have more going on than anyone else. They already own the best compliment software on the market. Even Flicker, Picasa, YouTube, Twitter, Google Reader and Blogger are on board, so I guess it won’t be long before Google Buzz sees an increase in users. Things are changing all the time; technologies improve, get on the Buzz or get left behind!
Google Buzz in Facebook out?
Everyone I know uses Facebook but the word on the street is that Google Buzz is taking over and Facebook is old news, just like MySpace. Google is a $170 billion company and has been known for its unique methods of dominating, taking over what has already been done and making it even better. It’s the Google way!
Only time will tell. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens, but I’m sure Facebook won’t go down without a fight. May the best social network win
!
