I am writing to inquire about possible financial assistance for disabled/ single mothers, like myself, seeking to further education. I am a license-bound Graduate Student at Barry University- School of Social Work in Miami, Florida, seeking sponsorship assistance to continue school.
A bit of background: I am currently an honors Graduate student with a strong future in social advocacy and awareness. I am a proactive social worker with 10+years of experience in human services, advocating for people of different age groups, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Having worked with most populations: single parents, grieving families, terminally ill patients, homelessness, domestic violence victims, unemployed and underemployed individuals, substance abusers, abuse victims (physical, mental, emotional and sexual) and individuals with disabilities, I am witness to the dynamic changes in our social services, for which I need to upgrade and enhance my skills. Thanks to generous sponsorships such as yours, this goal is within reach.
My current mission is to join national efforts to eradicate homelessness in the U.S. Similar to my function as Project Manager for America’s Forgotten, a homeless documentary, I plan to bring to light issues faced by the homeless, challenge stereotypes and focus on support systems needed to help them. My purpose is twofold: first to provide the necessary tools to break the chains that bind individuals and families to the unforgiving streets of homelessness, and second, to generate outcry concerning the lack of resources and affordable housing to assist this population and champion others to support the cause.

My contributions to Human Services include, but not limited to the following:
 Outreach: Served in the capacity of Workshop Facilitator and Case Manager for homelessness, and unemployment.

 Advocacy: Conducted community seminars to raise awareness for domestic violence.

 Event Coordination: Organized and hosted a fundraising dinner party for a state official.

 Social Awareness: Coordinated awareness groups for homelessness and domestic violence.

 Event Planning: Organized a City walk-a-thon to raise money for a wheelchair bound woman in need of special care.

 Volunteer Recruitment: Recruited and oversaw volunteers for social awareness events, i.e., sexual assault prevention, HIV education and race relations.

 Project Management: Co-produced “America’s Forgotten”; a reality–style television show, with a social conscience; as 6 homeless casualties of LA’s Skid Row were housed together, rehabilitated and transitioned back into society.

May I send you additional information?

     College Enrollment Verification
     Intent for Sponsorship Form

I appeal to your generosity with extensive experience, strong references and a heart ready to help the underserved. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

    Gratefully Yours,

    Sandra Laforest
