There are hundreds of millions of dollars in scholarships money available for African American Students. These scholarship funds have been set aside by companies for deserving African American students who want to advance their education. The scholarships are attainable and the requirements are made easy. The following is a list of scholarships that you can take advantage of. Don’t let them go to waste!
Ron Brown Scholar Program
The Ron Brown Scholar Program is designed for African American high school seniors who want to make a positive impact and contributions to society. Applicants must have exceptional leadership abilities, excel academically, Participate in community service activities and have financial need. (www.RonBrown.org)

United Negro College Fund Scholarship
The United Negro Scholarship fund is available to African-American college students, enrolled at a UNCF member institution. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5, be selected by your school’s financial aid director and have financial need.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation
The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship awards college scholarships to young underprivileged minority students. Applicants must be planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university within the U.S., have demonstrated high academic achievement and financial need, be a U.S citizen, show leadership potential and be actively involved in community service. Thurgood Marshall College Fund
The Thurgood Marshall College Fund is the only national organization founded for the sole purpose of providing scholarships to students attending the nation’s historically Black public colleges and universities. Recipients must be a US citizen, full-time enrollment at one of the 47 member university, have a GPA of 3.0 or better, SAT score of 1650 for incoming freshman, funds are applied to fall and spring semesters only. McDonald’s Scholarship Fund
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RHMC) National Scholarship Program offers scholarship to students from communities who face limited access to higher education and career opportunities. Applicants must be a currently enrolled high school senior who will be attending a vocational or technical school or a two or four-year college, or university. (www.mcdonadsnymetro.com)
The Gates Millennium Scholarship
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States of America, have a GPA of 3.3, plans to enroll for the first time in a US. accredited college or university as a full time student, demonstrated leadership abilities, participate in community service, meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility requirements and have three forms of recommendation, see www.gmsp.org for more details.
NAACP Scholarships
Earl G. Graves Scholarship
NAACP offers the Earl G. Graves Scholarship. Applicants must be a junior or senior business major, enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States, or a graduate student enrolled to a master’s or doctoral program within a business school, good academic record, a full-time student and be in the top 20 percent of his/her class.
Agnes Jones Jackson Scholarship
Applicants must be a current member of the NAACP, a United States citizen enrolled in an accredited college or university, undergraduate applicants must be a full-time student, graduate applicants may be either a full-time or part-time student, must be a graduating high school senior.
Lillian & Samuel Sutton Education Scholarships
Applicants must be an Education major, a US citizen enrolled in an accredit college, hold a NAACP membership, undergraduate applicants must be a full-time student, graduate applicants may be full or part-time students.
Hubertus W.V. Wellems Scholarships for Male Students
Applicants must be a male majoring in Chemistry, Engineering, Mathematical Sciences or Physics. Applicants must be a US citizen and plans to attend an accredited college, hold a NAACP membership; undergraduate applicants must be a full-time student. Graduate students may be part-time or full-time, possess a GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate financial need.
