For students to get ahead in their life, it is quite important that they utilize their free time properly. Parents should not curb the interests of their child. You never know your child may gain expertise in that particular area. For example, if your child interest lies in mathematics, it is advisable that you do not force him to opt for management just because management students are in great demand.

There is a significant difference between hobbies and interests. While hobbies changes with time, interests more or less remains the same. If you have interest in something, make sure that you follow it with full commitment and discipline. For example, if you are interested in becoming a scientist then you need to earn a PhD degree in your subject area first. After that, you need to gain some work experience in your subject area and then only you will be able to become a scientist. To attain success in any field, you need to work with long-term objectives in mind. Short-term objectives will only give you motivation and confidence to succeed.

To convert your hobbies into interests, you need to be clear in your mind. If you are not confident in your thinking, you will not be able to convert your hobbies into interests. Your friends and family members can assist you in this process but to get their support, you need to prove yourself first.
